The Side Well Gold Project, near Meekatharra, WA, continues to yield results for Great Boulder Resources Ltd (ASX:GBR), with some strong gold assay results coming out of its reverse circulation (RC) drilling program at the project’s Mulga Bill deposit.
The program comprised nine RC holes, totalling 1,587 metres, targeting under-drilled areas around high-grade veins.
Multiple high-grade zones
The drilling returned multiple high-grade intersections, reinforcing the continuity and potential expansion of the resource.
Notable results include:
- 5 metres at 43.13 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 185 metres, including 2 metres at 102.80g/t gold from 186 metres;
- 5 metres at 40.61g/t gold from 256 metres, including 1metre at 194.50g/t gold from 258 metres;
- 6 metres at 20.52g/t gold from 179 metres, including 2 metres at 57.10g/t gold from 179 metres; and
- 5 metres at 16.93g/t gold from 91 metres, including 2 metres at 39.70g/t gold from 92 metres.
These high-grade intersections, particularly the 194.50g/t gold hit, are expected to significantly enhance the company’s mineral resource estimate (MRE), currently standing at 668,000 ounces at 2.8g/t gold.
The drilling extended several lodes, such as the Cervelo Lodes, by some 30 metres to the north, adding both thickness and grade to the resource, which is essential for improving the project's potential mine economics.
Infill drilling is also expected to convert inferred resources to the indicated category, providing a more accurate basis for future scoping studies.
Sensational new intersections
Great Boulder managing director Andrew Paterson said: “These are sensational new intersections at Mulga Bill.
“The holes were designed to add definition within areas of inferred resource and they have done so in emphatic style, with intersections that are both thicker and higher grade than previously estimated.
“Equally impressive is the deep result in hole 24MBRC030 which is well outside the resource, down-dip and further north than previous drilling in that area.
“After several rounds of drilling at Mulga Bill the high-grade lode positions fit our interpretation perfectly, which means we have very high confidence in the validity of this resource model.
“The drilling has added high-grade intersections up-dip from previous holes on several sections within the resource, which should add gold ounces closer to surface than the current estimate.
“This will be important for potential mine economics when we start scoping studies.”
What’s next?
Looking ahead, the RC rig is completing the final resource definition holes at Mulga Bill, with further reconnaissance air-core drilling set to commence imminently at the Side Well South prospect.
Additionally, two diamond drill holes were recently completed at Mulga Bill, with assay results expected in October.
The company is also scheduling resource definition work at the Saltbush prospect to align with the Side Well South program.
