Frontier Energy Ltd (ASX:FHE) has moved to reduce costs and unlock the potential of its proposed Bristol Springs Solar Plant (BSSP) Project in Western Australia through a collaboration agreement with Waroona Energy Pty Ltd, a company developing a 241-megawatt solar farm adjacent to the BSSP.
Combined, the two projects could produce up to 700 megawatts of power – the BSSP has the potential to produce some 438 megawatts of solar energy once development is complete.
FHE believes this collaboration agreement will reduce costs for both parties in the short and long term while allowing for more effective communication with stakeholders about renewable energy solutions in the region.
Building a major renewable province
“The demand for renewable energy solutions in Western Australia, like the rest of the world, is growing by the day,” Frontier Energy managing director Sam Lee Mohan said.
“Given Frontier and Waroona Energy’s projects are adjacent, with similar development and production timelines, it makes sense for an open dialogue between the companies.
“This will ensure that all current and future stakeholders are fully aware and informed in a coordinated way about the potential for around 350MW (Stage 1) of fully permitted renewable energy to commence development in the region during 2023.
“We look forward to working closely with the Waroona Energy team in the months and years ahead, together unlocking the potential for the Waroona region to become a major renewable energy province in Western Australia.”

The collaboration agreement has the potential to elevate the two projects to be the largest renewable energy project in Western Australia, with access to the South West Interconnected System (SWIS) energy grid and just 150 kilometres from the Perth CBD.
