It has been a busy year for Flynn Gold Ltd (ASX:FG1), as it continues to advance its work programs across its portfolio of gold and battery metals projects in Tasmania and Western Australia.
One of the key highlights for the company this year was the identification of bonanza gold intercepts at the Trafalgar Prospect during diamond drilling, demonstrating the potential for a significant resource across the broader Golden Ridge Project.
In October, FGI intersected more high-grade gold, including some bonanza grades, at Trafalgar pointing to it being a significant large-scale gold resource.
Also in Tasmania, the company confirmed the significant potential for gold and the critical minerals cobalt, tungsten and copper at its 100%-owned Firetower Project in Tasmania in ongoing review and targeting work.
Lithium acquisition in WA
Over in WA, FG1 expanded its lithium exposure, acquiring two additional lithium exploration licences in WA, namely the Parker Dome Project, which contains multiple pegmatite targets.
“This development follows the granting of six exploration licences earlier in the year at the nearby Forrestania and Lake Johnston Projects, which paved the way for the commencement of our on-ground lithium exploration at both sites,” FG1 CEI Neil Marston said.
Lake Johnston is to the east of and adjacent to TG Metals Ltd ground, just seven kilometres southeast of its recent Burmeister lithium discovery.
The project is also 3.5 kilometres southeast of and adjacent to Charger Metals Ltd's Mt Gordon Prospect, where multiple lithium soil anomalies have been identified.
In November, Flynn deployed a geological team to the Lake Johnston Project to undertake a geological mapping and orientation soil sampling program, prior to a more extensive soil sampling program aimed at identifying targets for drill testing.
The company also defined lithium prospectivity at the Mt Dove Lithium-Gold Project in WA, identifying seven priority zones of lithium anomalism confirmed with infill soil sampling.
What’s next?
“Looking ahead to 2024, it promises to be another busy year. We look forward to reporting the results of our recently completed drilling at the Firetower project in Northern Tasmania in the new year. On-going modelling at the Trafalgar prospect is generating drill targets to test in 2024, together with other prospects at Golden Ridge in NE Tasmania,” Marston said.
“We anticipate the start of drilling at Parker Dome in Q1 with multiple geophysics, mapping and sampling programs also expected across the rest of the portfolio. Additionally, drilling is planned at Lake Johnston, Forrestania and Mt Dove projects.”
