© Reuters FIVE at FIVE AU: ASX gains to end day on strong note

After starting on a weak note, the ASX climbed this afternoon to end the day 0.57% higher, reaching a fresh four-week high.

The Property sector was the standout, up 1.55%, with Goodman Group (ASX:GMG) up 3.49% and Charter Hall gaining 2.45%.

The Consumer Discretionary sector was also strong, led by an upbeat outlook from Harvey Norman that saw the retailer gain 4.43% over the session. While HVN reported lower sales and earnings for the half year, executive chairman Gerry Harvey said the company was well-placed for a rebound in the building cycle.

Utilities was the only sector to end the day in the red.

Star Entertainment ended up 7.29% despite a 14% fall in revenue as it faces licence problems in Sydney. Despite the fall in revenue, the casino operator swung to a net profit of $9.1 million.

ASX Wolf bankrupt

Social media influencer Tyson Scholz, known as the 'ASX Wolf', has been bankrupted by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC)

The bankruptcy was declared in the Federal Court earlier this month after Scholz was ordered to pay $456,296 in costs relating to earlier civil action against him by ASIC for carrying on a financial services business without an Australian financial services licence.

Scholz made more than $1 million by promoting shares online and charging subscribers between $500-$1,500 for share trading courses

ASIC today said that Scholz had not paid the court-ordered costs, so had sought bankruptcy action against him.
