Evion Group NL (ASX:EVG, OTC:EVIGF) has strengthened its presence in Madagascar at a key time in the pre-development process for the Maniry Graphite Project in the country’s south with the appointment of a mine development and licensing advisory team.
Heading up this team will be leading mine development advisor Lydia Boarlaza, who has been appointed general manager –Development.
Experienced GM
In this capacity, she will be responsible for all permitting and license approvals in relation to Evion’s proposed Maniry graphite development.
Boarlaza will also oversee the completion of the relocation action plan (RAP) and final implementation of Evion’s Environmental and Social Impact Plan (ESIP) as part of the process to be granted a mine development permit.
She is an experienced general manager and until recently was engaged by Next Source Materials Inc and managed, over several years, to complete all necessary permits and licences to allow Next Source to develop the Molo operation and begin production in late 2023.
“Recognised experience”
Evion Group's managing director David Round said: “I’m delighted that Lydia has now joined the Evion team and I have every confidence in her ability to manage our permit and licence approvals over the immediate future in Madagascar.
"Lydia has recognised experience in country and had great success in guiding Next Source in their development from explorer to miner in the same region of our proposed operations in Madagascar.”

Key staff appointed
In addition to Boarlaza’s appointment, Evion has also appointed other key staff to assist in managing the approval and implementation of the ESIP and liaise closely with the National Office for the Environment (ONE) in Madagascar.
"These key appointments will now allow us to fast-track the important functions of completing our RAP and permit application and I look forward to updating the market on this detail in the near future,” Round added.
"On behalf of the board, I welcome Lydia to her new role and look forward to her being part of Evion’s exciting future.”
