Discovery Alaska Ltd (ASX:DAF, OTC:DRVYF) was hard at work in the June quarter reviewing the historic resource block model, identifying follow-up target areas from historical geological and geophysical datasets, and planning an exploration program for the next phase of works at the Vinasale Gold Project in Alaska.
DAF holds a binding Mining Lease Agreement for the 100% rights of the project, which hosts a historic NI 43-101 inferred resource of 22 million tonnes at 1.53 g/t for 1.08 million ounces of gold and an indicated resource of 2.29 million tonnes at 1.84 g/t for 135,000 ounces, using a 1 g/t cut-off grade for both resource categories at the Central Zone prospect.
The company also has a 100% interest in the Chulitna Project in Alaska, but no work was done there this quarter.
Moving forward at Vinasale
The Vinasale Gold Project is the company’s main focus and encompasses approximately 6,500 hectares, located roughly 310 kilometres northwest of Anchorage and 26 kilometres south of McGrath, on lands owned by Doyon, Limited, an Alaska Native Regional Corporation.
During the quarter, DAF initiated work involving auditing the existing resource block model against drill hole data to confirm correlation. This standard method compared block values with drill assay composites in cross-sectional views, confirming a strong correlation between the block model and drilling results.
Based on existing drill and geophysical data, DAF has identified additional targets to the south and east of previous drilling to determine the limits of mineralisation in this direction, as well as testing depth extensions.
These targets have supporting previous drill information and geophysical data, including induced polarization features and resistivity anomalies.
Furthermore, additional features with low resistivity align with larger regional lineaments, associated with fault zones and vein systems formed between the Denali-Farewell and the Kaltag-Tintina fault zones. These areas are immediate targets, requiring further desktop evaluation and planning for site ground-truthing works.
Historical exploration drilling works have tested the Central, Northeast, and South Zones at the Vinasale Project; however, only the Central Zone is included in the resource estimation.
