Cyclone Metals lauds Macraes South’s golden potential with new Swampy Hill drill targets

Cyclone Metals Ltd (ASX:CLE) is ready to capitalise on some emerging drill targets at its Macraes South prospecting permit following a pivotal ionic soil program.

A recent sampling campaign and Ionic Leach™ work have unveiled a series of strong, coherent and continuous geochemical responses over Macraes’ key gold lode positions, leading Cyclone to a suite of highly prospective anomalies at the New Zealand gold property.

With the new gold targets in tow (and anomalism open to the permit’s northwest, southeast and northeast), the explorer has pinpointed upwards of five mineralised lodes for drill testing at Macraes’ Swampy Hill prospect.

Rock chip sampling across these lodes has recorded up to 3.47 g/t gold, and Cyclone plans to lodge a small exploration permit to facilitate a future drilling program.

Drill targets come into focus

Cyclone Metals chairman Tony Sage said: “The results from the soil sampling program have generated highly prospective drill targets over multiple lodes, located only 15 kilometres from the Macraes Gold Mine, operated by Oceania Gold Ltd.

“The Swampy Hill prospect area, with limited previous exploration, is being applied for to convert to an exploration permit and has significant upside if drill testing later in the year is successful.

“The remainder of the Macraes South project is being applied for to remain as a prospecting permit and will have further soil sampling programs to identify drill targets.”

Comprehensive campaign

Today’s announcement has been months in the making, catapulted by an ionic leach trial sampling campaign that started back in May 2022.

Cyclone continued to chip away at the program for the better part of a year, capping off an expanded soil sampling program in December.

After results came back from the lab, the explorer rolled out a soil grid program around solid results from traverse line four (part of what’s now known as the Swampy Hill prospect).

Fast forward to today, and Cyclone’s new gold anomalies have been defined using Ionic Leach — generally regarded as a highly sensitive and innovative sampling technique that’s more cost and time-efficient.

Cyclone will keep the market informed of its next steps at Macraes South as it readies to get the drill bit spinning.
