Cooper Metals Ltd (ASX:CPM) has kicked off a versatile time-domain electromagnetic (VTEM) survey over a newly granted tenement at its Mt Isa East copper-gold project in Queensland.
The airborne survey is poised to rapidly advance exploration over the new tenement, where Cooper recently pinpointed three priority areas for copper-gold exploration.
Those targets include two VTEM anomalies — signals that could point to bedrock conductors with copper-gold potential.
The survey is partly funded by the Queensland Government’s Collaborative Exploration Initiative (CEI) grant, providing a $137,500 funding runway as Cooper takes to the skies.
The survey should wrap within six weeks, paving the way for ground truthing across Mt Isa’s priority anomalies.
Exploring VTEM signatures
Managing director Ian Warland said Cooper was excited to begin the VTEM survey over the EPM28087 tenement.
“[EPM28087] is located just to the east of the Barbara deposit which is thought to have a VTEM signature, demonstrating the usefulness of this method in identifying sulphide-rich copper mineralisation,” he explained.
“The survey is very detailed at 300-metre line spacing and will take around one week to complete, with data processing and interpretation a further five weeks.
“I look forward to updating the market with our exploration progress over the coming weeks.”
