ClearVue Technologies Ltd (ASX:CPV, OTCQB:CVUEF) has proven the ability to scale its smart building solutions. The smart building materials company has demonstrated its building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPVs) can be produced on mass production lines without the need for glass manufacturers to make changes to their standardised lines, meaning lower costs and less downtime between different product runs.

A mass-scale production run has shown that the company’s second-generation integrated glazing unit (IGU) design can be produced at mass scale on an unmodified industry-standard production line.

The production run confirms the company’s ability to mass produce the second-generation ClearVue IGUs for both large commercial and small-scale bespoke products.

Commercial production run

ClearVue’s licensed OEM manufacturer in China conducted a commercial production run on a standard manufacturing line with continuous production of 80 IGUs. Adding ClearVue’s components to produce a fully assembled and sealed IGU, increased the production cycle time by only five minutes.

The successful production run confirms how easily ClearVue’s Second Generation IGU can be integrated to standard mass production facilities. The IGU, along with the company’s façade solutions, were initially tested at a smaller factory in Singapore and shown to significantly reduce fabrication and assembly time by more than 90%, providing cost savings and increased production output capability.

ClearVue is now in discussions with several manufacturing licensee partners across multiple territories. It expects the commercial scale production run will assist with negotiations and demonstrate how new licensees will engage with ClearVue to manufacture ClearVuePV IGU products at scale.

Certainty to licensee partners

ClearVue chief executive officer Martin Deil said, “This is a very important production milestone for our industry-leading Second Generation IGUs and Façade Solutions which integrate solar technology into construction glass and building façades to provide renewable energy.

“While governments and regulators are mandating new building standards and carbon reduction initiatives and businesses are looking for solutions to meet net-zero carbon-related requirements, the sector still needs to be able to manufacture products in a cost-effective way that fits into current production facility manufacturing capabilities and schedules.

“We are currently in discussions with multiple manufacturing licence partners around the world. We are confident this demonstration provides certainty to potential licensee partners as well as our existing partners like AIT Group in the US.”
