OpenAI's ChatGPT has unveiled 'custom instructions', a cutting-edge feature that will allow a consistent set of instructions to be seamlessly applied across all chats and sessions.
The custom instructions feature enables users to set particular preferences or stipulations, which the model will take into account when generating responses.
This means that once a user establishes their preferences, there's no need to reiterate them in subsequent interactions - which is a game changer for the application
Beginning today, the feature is accessible in beta for those subscribed to the Plus plan, the company is anticipating a broader roll-out to its general user base in the coming weeks.
Introducing Custom instructions! This feature lets you give ChatGPT any custom requests or context which you’d like applied to every conversation. Custom instructions are currently available to Plus users, and we plan to roll out to all users soon! https://t.co/fVIM9GeYk2Here…

Personalised touch
The move comes after extensive feedback indicated that users often found it cumbersome to start every conversation from scratch.
OpenAI engaged with users from 22 different countries to gain deeper insights.
From these interactions, the importance of steerability in the model emerged as crucial.
By allowing users to direct and fine-tune interactions, ChatGPT can more effectively cater to the specific requirements and diverse contexts of each individual.
