With sustainability emerging as a core business case metric, Celsius Resources Ltd (ASX:CLA, AIM:CLA) has opted to emphasise environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives with the appointment of Attilenore Manero as non-executive sustainability director.

The company has also reshuffled its executive leadership responsibilities, shifting non-executive chair Julito Sarmiento to the executive chair position, and executive director Peter Hume to managing director of the board.

Manero previously worked with the Celsius board from February 2021 to September the same year but returned to her work as a community relations manager in the Phillipines.

She specialises in social and environmental impacts management, with extensive practical experience throughout the Philippines, having worked with major public infrastructure, energy and mining projects involving indigenous communities for more than 13 years.

Inclusivity, gender diversity, ESG

“We are very pleased to have Ms Manero become a member of the Celsius Board as it demonstrates not only the company’s commitment to inclusivity and gender diversity but also in meeting our ESG and sustainability goals,” Celsius Resources chair Julito Sarmiento said.

“Having personally worked with her, she has consistently demonstrated her passion and dedication to the local companies’ growth and development, whilst making sure that sustainable business practices are seriously adhered to by the companies.

“We are fortunate that she has agreed to share her time and talent to make this happen not only at the local Philippine subsidiaries level but also that of the Celsius Group.”

Manero has particular experience in working with technical and engineering teams to reduce social and environmental effects while enhancing positive impacts which are essential to obtaining a social licence to operate within the Philippines.

Her new position will involve an active role in overseeing ESG and community elements as well as various regulatory related approvals for the company’s flagship copper-gold assets in the Philippines.
