Carnavale Resources Ltd (ASX:CAV) has completed its extended program of reverse circulation (RC) drilling at the McTavish East Prospect within the Kookynie Gold Project in Western Australia.
This program of 10 holes for 1,550 metres was following up on strong, extensional high-grade gold results from previous shallow aircore drilling in the regolith.
It targeted fresh rock in northern extensions identified by CAV’s aircore drilling at McTavish East.
Completed safely
Carnavale’s CEO Humphrey Hale said: “The RC drilling at Kookynie testing the high-grade gold hits in the extensional aircore, has been safely completed over the weekend.
"The geology encountered in the early drilling was encouraging so we were pleased to have added additional drilling to the program.”

CAV initially planned to drill eight RC holes for 1,400 metres but this was extended to 1,550 metres as the geology and structure intersected was highly encouraging.
Aircore follow-up
The RC drilling targeted ground below previous extensional aircore drilling results that included:
- 10 metres at 5.78 g/t gold from 32 metres, including 6 metres at 9.08 g/t and 2 metres at 1.4 g/t;
- 4 metres at 13.28 g/t from 24 metres and 2 metres at 1.14 g/t from 32 metres;
- 8 metres at 4.98 g/t from 44 metres, including 6 metres at 6.37 g/t; and
- 9 metres at 2.88 g/t from 54 metres, ended in mineralisation.
The mineralising trend is steeply dipping to the east and is structurally controlled by northeast striking structures that can be interpreted from the aeromagnetic images flown by Carnavale in late 2020.
About Kookynie
Kookynie Gold Project is in the central portions of the historic Kookynie Mining Centre 20 kilometres south of Leonora.
Location plan of CAV projects.
Carnavale’s strategy is to explore and define sufficient high-grade, high-value gold resources and reserves that can be mined and transported to a processing plant nearby.
The company has four exploration projects - Kookynie Gold Project, Ora Banda South Gold Project, Grey Dam Nickel Project and Barracuda Copper-Nickel-PGE Project - targeting high-grade gold and nickel sulphides close to Kalgoorlie in WA’s Goldfields.
