Investing.com – Canada equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Healthcare, Clean Technology and Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite fell 0.14%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were CES Energy Solutions Corp (TO:CEU), which rose 3.24% or 0.150 points to trade at 4.780 at the close. PrairieSky Royalty Ltd (TO:PSK) added 2.85% or 0.70 points to end at 25.22 and Birchcliff Energy Ltd . (TO:BIR) was up 2.81% or 0.14 points to 5.13 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Alaris Royalty Corp . (TO:AD), which lost 3.68% or 0.600 points to trade at 15.710 in late trade. Cascades Inc . (TO:CAS) declined 3.68% or 0.44 points to end at 11.52 and Aurora Cannabis Inc (TO:ACB) shed 3.47% or 0.310 points to 8.620.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 566 to 506 and 131 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 6.07% to 13.46.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.41% or 5.10 to $1241.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.43% or 0.30 to hit $70.63 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.55% or 0.41 to trade at $74.86 a barrel.
CAD/USD was down 0.03% to 0.7600, while CAD/EUR fell 0.14% to 0.6505.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 94.46.
