Investing.com – Canada equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Healthcare, IT and Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite declined 0.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Torex Gold Resources Inc (TO:TXG), which rose 4.74% or 0.540 points to trade at 11.930 at the close. Hudson's Bay Company (TO:HBC) added 4.54% or 0.49 points to end at 11.28 and Aphria Inc (TO:APH) was up 3.95% or 0.710 points to 18.700 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Klondex Mines Ltd (TO:KDX), which lost 4.40% or 0.150 points to trade at 3.260 in late trade. Ivanhoe Mines Ltd. (TO:IVN) declined 3.42% or 0.150 points to end at 4.240 and Crew Energy Inc (TO:CR) shed 2.93% or 0.10 points to 3.15.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 698 to 407 and 133 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 1.00% to 11.13.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.59% or 7.70 to $1304.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.47% or 0.28 to hit $60.12 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.71% or 0.47 to trade at $66.63 a barrel.
CAD/USD was down 0.20% to 0.7944, while CAD/EUR fell 0.57% to 0.6623.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.37% at 92.00.
