Investing.com – Canada equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Energy, Telecoms and Clean Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite fell 0.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Endeavour Silver Corp. (TSX:EDR), which rose 5.12% or 0.22 points to trade at 4.52 at the close. Dundee Precious Metals Inc (TSX:DPM) added 3.85% or 0.36 points to end at 9.72 and Fortuna Silver Mines Inc (TSX:FVI) was up 3.48% or 0.16 points to 4.76 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Telus International Cda Inc (TSX:TIXT), which lost 30.67% or 5.91 points to trade at 13.36 in late trade. Tilray Inc (TSX:TLRY) declined 7.17% or 0.17 points to end at 2.20 and Vermilion Energy Inc . (TSX:VET) shed 4.95% or 0.88 points to 16.88.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 484 to 469 and 106 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 13.73% to 10.49 a new 52-week low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.20% or 3.95 to $1,959.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 2.13% or 1.64 to hit $75.25 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 2.10% or 1.71 to trade at $79.65 a barrel.
CAD/USD was down 0.87% to 0.76, while CAD/EUR fell 0.85% to 0.67.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.21% at 99.67.
