Investing.com – Canada equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Healthcare, Energy and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite lost 0.01%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Sleep Country Canada Holdings Inc (TO:ZZZ), which rose 15.44% or 4.84 points to trade at 36.18 at the close. Crew Energy Inc (TO:CR) added 10.64% or 0.15 points to end at 1.56 and Klondex Mines Ltd (TO:KDX) was up 9.71% or 0.170 points to 1.920 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ivanhoe Mines Ltd. (TO:IVN), which lost 6.65% or 0.210 points to trade at 2.950 in late trade. Lucara Diamond Corp (TO:LUC) declined 4.52% or 0.100 points to end at 2.110 and ShawCor Ltd . (TO:SCL) shed 4.07% or 1.07 points to 25.22.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 562 to 524 and 144 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 3.69% to 15.67.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 1.36% or 17.80 to $1323.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.71% or 0.43 to hit $61.42 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 1.05% or 0.67 to trade at $64.50 a barrel.
CAD/USD was down 0.37% to 0.7761, while CAD/EUR fell 0.90% to 0.6296.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.32% at 89.93.
