Investing.com – Canada equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Energy, Industrials and Clean Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite gained 2.37%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Endeavour Silver Corp. (TSX:EDR), which rose 12.74% or 0.53 points to trade at 4.69 at the close. ATS Automation Tooling Systems Inc. (TSX:ATA) added 9.38% or 3.42 points to end at 39.88 and HudBay Minerals Inc (TSX:HBM) was up 8.45% or 0.47 points to 6.03 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Saputo Inc (TSX:SAP), which lost 3.10% or 1.02 points to trade at 31.91 in late trade. Uni-Select Inc. (TSX:UNS) declined 2.44% or 0.89 points to end at 35.59 and Boyd Group Income Fund (TSX:BYD) shed 2.28% or 3.96 points to 169.99.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 758 to 234 and 81 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 3.88% to 22.07.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 2.19% or 36.65 to $1,708.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 4.76% or 3.78 to hit $83.27 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 4.12% or 3.51 to trade at $88.65 a barrel.
CAD/USD was up 1.54% to 0.73, while CAD/EUR rose 1.34% to 0.75.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.44% at 111.59.
