Investing.com – Canada equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Industrials, Clean Technology and IT sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite added 0.95%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were IAMGold Corporation (TSX:IMG), which rose 18.37% or 0.27 points to trade at 1.74 at the close. Bombardier Inc (TSX:BBDb) added 6.21% or 1.87 points to end at 31.97 and Innergex Renewable Energy Inc . (TSX:INE) was up 4.36% or 0.64 points to 15.33 in late trade.
Biggest losers included First Quantum Minerals Ltd . (TSX:FM), which lost 4.51% or 1.08 points to trade at 22.89 in late trade. Ero Copper Corp (TSX:ERO) declined 3.71% or 0.62 points to end at 16.07 and Advantage Oil & Gas Ltd. (TSX:AAV) shed 2.96% or 0.31 points to 10.17.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 635 to 356 and 114 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 0.95% to 25.03.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.43% or 7.20 to $1,656.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 2.33% or 1.97 to hit $82.56 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.45% or 1.33 to trade at $90.29 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.13% to 0.73, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.29% to 0.74.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 111.88.
