Investing.com – Canada equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Healthcare, Clean Technology and IT sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite rose 0.73%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Lightspeed Commerce Inc (TSX:LSPD), which rose 10.71% or 3.08 points to trade at 31.85 at the close. Canopy Growth Corp (TSX:WEED) added 10.56% or 0.68 points to end at 7.12 and Nuvei Corp (TSX:NVEI) was up 8.89% or 5.31 points to 65.07 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Nutrien Ltd (TSX:NTR), which lost 2.71% or 3.41 points to trade at 122.53 in late trade. Yamana Gold Inc (TSX:YRI) declined 2.48% or 0.17 points to end at 6.68 and Agnico-Eagle Mines Ltd . (TSX:AEM) shed 2.39% or 1.68 points to 68.53.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 695 to 319 and 102 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 0.04% to 22.26.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.18% or 3.40 to $1,849.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 3.35% or 3.70 to hit $114.03 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 2.78% or 3.09 to trade at $114.21 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.32% to 0.78, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.10% to 0.73.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.28% at 101.79.
