Investing.com – Canada equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the IT, Healthcare and Clean Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite rose 0.66% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Bombardier Inc (TSX:BBDb), which rose 6.91% or 3.59 points to trade at 55.56 at the close. Altus Group Limited (TSX:AIF) added 4.72% or 1.96 points to end at 43.51 and Canada Goose Holdings Inc (TSX:GOOS) was up 4.66% or 0.71 points to 15.96 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Athabasca Oil Corp (TSX:ATH), which lost 3.86% or 0.17 points to trade at 4.23 in late trade. Pason Systems Inc . (TSX:PSI) declined 3.77% or 0.60 points to end at 15.31 and Tamarack Valley Energy Ltd (TSX:TVE) shed 3.46% or 0.11 points to 3.07.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 614 to 368 and 93 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 3.03% to 11.20.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.73% or 15.00 to $2,034.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 3.83% or 2.83 to hit $70.98 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 3.00% or 2.36 to trade at $76.40 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.05% to 0.75, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.10% to 0.68.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 102.00.
