Investing.com – Canada equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Healthcare, Clean Technology and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite gained 0.39%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Tilray Inc (TSX:TLRY), which rose 6.27% or 0.22 points to trade at 3.73 at the close. Brookfield Business Partners LP (TSX:BBU_u) added 5.48% or 1.29 points to end at 24.84 and Nutrien Ltd (TSX:NTR) was up 4.84% or 4.44 points to 96.12 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Colliers International Group Inc Bats (TSX:CIGI), which lost 3.38% or 4.68 points to trade at 133.60 in late trade. HudBay Minerals Inc (TSX:HBM) declined 2.60% or 0.18 points to end at 6.73 and Teck Resources Ltd B (TSX:TECKb) shed 2.55% or 1.51 points to 57.76.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 600 to 358 and 114 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 0.32% to 15.47.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.97% or 19.70 to $2,006.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 1.04% or 0.84 to hit $79.86 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 1.02% or 0.87 to trade at $84.25 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.05% to 0.74, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.39% to 0.68.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.48% at 102.22.
