Investing.com – Canada equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Healthcare, Energy and Clean Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite added 0.27%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Bausch Health Companies Inc (TSX:BHC), which rose 24.07% or 1.95 points to trade at 10.05 at the close. Brookfield Business Partners LP (TSX:BBU_u) added 7.94% or 1.96 points to end at 26.66 and Lightspeed Commerce Inc (TSX:LSPD) was up 7.30% or 1.36 points to 20.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included IAMGold Corporation (TSX:IMG), which lost 5.57% or 0.22 points to trade at 3.73 in late trade. Lundin Gold Inc (TSX:LUG) declined 4.45% or 0.81 points to end at 17.41 and Spartan Delta Corp (TSX:SDE) shed 3.58% or 0.57 points to 15.36.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 538 to 420 and 116 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 3.74% to 13.39.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.32% or 6.40 to $1,986.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 2.58% or 1.83 to hit $72.69 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 2.55% or 1.91 to trade at $76.82 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.22% to 0.74, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.44% to 0.69.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.30% at 102.71.
