Investing.com – Canada equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Healthcare, Energy and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite gained 0.16%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Aphria Inc (TSX:APHA), which rose 7.68% or 1.640 points to trade at 23.000 at the close. PrairieSky Royalty Ltd (TSX:PSK) added 6.28% or 0.72 points to end at 12.19 and CI Financial Corp (TSX:CIX) was up 5.69% or 1.03 points to 19.23 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Aurora Cannabis Inc (TSX:ACB), which lost 9.12% or 1.670 points to trade at 16.640 in late trade. Colliers International Group Inc Bats (TSX:CIGI) declined 6.02% or 8.41 points to end at 131.34 and Agnico-Eagle Mines Ltd . (TSX:AEM) shed 6.16% or 5.56 points to 84.76.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 634 to 392 and 109 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was unchanged 0% to 11.27.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.31% or 5.75 to $1821.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 2.21% or 1.29 to hit $59.53 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 2.31% or 1.41 to trade at $62.55 a barrel.
CAD/USD was up 0.08% to 0.7876, while CAD/EUR rose 0.17% to 0.6498.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 90.430.
