Investing.com – Canada equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Healthcare, IT and Clean Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite rose 0.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Bausch Health Companies Inc (TSX:BHC), which rose 19.98% or 2.01 points to trade at 12.07 at the close. Shopify Inc (TSX:SHOP) added 6.91% or 4.62 points to end at 71.44 and Lightspeed Commerce Inc (TSX:LSPD) was up 5.99% or 1.37 points to 24.23 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Converge Technology Solutions Corp (TSX:CTS), which lost 8.96% or 0.49 points to trade at 4.98 in late trade. Kinross Gold Corporation (TSX:K) declined 5.06% or 0.28 points to end at 5.25 and Tamarack Valley Energy Ltd (TSX:TVE) shed 4.95% or 0.23 points to 4.42.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 495 to 484 and 104 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 0.15% to 13.01.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.94% or 17.55 to $1,847.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.68% or 0.54 to hit $78.52 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.43% or 0.37 to trade at $85.21 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.41% to 0.75, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.04% to 0.70.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.61% at 103.75.
