Investing.com – Canada equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the IT, Clean Technology and Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite added 0.03%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Lightspeed Commerce Inc (TSX:LSPD), which rose 8.53% or 2.17 points to trade at 27.62 at the close. ECN Capital Corp (TSX:ECN) added 8.38% or 0.49 points to end at 6.34 and Nuvei Corp (TSX:NVEI) was up 7.71% or 5.23 points to 73.09 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Wesdome Gold Mines Ltd. (TSX:WDO), which lost 5.50% or 0.86 points to trade at 14.79 in late trade. Westshore Terminals Investment Corp (TSX:WTE) declined 4.85% or 1.53 points to end at 30.04 and Labrador Iron Ore Royalty Corp (TSX:LIF) shed 4.77% or 1.96 points to 39.10.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 522 to 517 and 93 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 2.85% to 19.42.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 2.28% or 44.80 to $1,916.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 7.96% or 8.20 to hit $94.81 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 7.99% or 8.54 to trade at $98.36 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.48% to 0.78, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.43% to 0.72.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 99.00.
