Investing.com – Canada equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Healthcare, Energy and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite added 0.01%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Bausch Health Companies Inc (TSX:BHC), which rose 14.63% or 1.47 points to trade at 11.52 at the close. ATS Corporation (TSX:ATS) added 6.13% or 3.55 points to end at 61.43 and Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers Inc . (TSX:RBA) was up 5.06% or 3.53 points to 73.23 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lightspeed Commerce Inc (TSX:LSPD), which lost 12.50% or 2.50 points to trade at 17.50 in late trade. Canada Goose Holdings Inc (TSX:GOOS) declined 10.22% or 2.81 points to end at 24.68 and Equinox Gold Corp (TSX:EQX) shed 4.68% or 0.32 points to 6.52.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 526 to 437 and 107 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 0.97% to 13.26.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 1.26% or 25.05 to $1,959.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 1.14% or 0.83 to hit $72.00 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 1.22% or 0.94 to trade at $76.02 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.32% to 0.74, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.26% to 0.69.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.64% at 103.39.
