Investing.com – Canada equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Utilities, Industrials and Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite gained 0.01%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Park Lawn Corp (TSX:PLC), which rose 8.80% or 2.14 points to trade at 26.46 at the close. SilverCrest Metals Inc (TSX:SIL) added 7.40% or 0.66 points to end at 9.58 and Trisura Group Ltd (TSX:TSU) was up 5.85% or 2.00 points to 36.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included CI Financial Corp (TSX:CIX), which lost 17.14% or 2.64 points to trade at 12.76 in late trade. Converge Technology Solutions Corp (TSX:CTS) declined 5.97% or 0.20 points to end at 3.15 and Nuvei Corp (TSX:NVEI) shed 4.02% or 1.97 points to 47.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 509 to 457 and 106 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 3.66% to 13.17.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.24% or 4.75 to $2,015.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 1.06% or 0.75 to hit $70.12 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.99% or 0.74 to trade at $74.24 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.47% to 0.74, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.17% to 0.68.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.64% at 102.53.
