In a move set to boost its prospecting portfolio, C29 Metals Ltd (ASX:C29) has added a swathe of high-priority copper targets to its Sampson’s Tank Project in a copper-rich region of central New South Wales.
The explorer chalks the findings up to a recent induced polarisation (IP) survey, run by the renowned Australian Geophysical Services team over just under 40 line kilometres.
In essence, the survey has proved up two main zones that coincide with magnetics, versatile time domain electromagnetics (VTEM) and geochemical anomalies — all good signs that C29 is moving in on prospective copper hotbeds.
With two strong complexes taking shape (one to Sampson’s Tank’s north and the other in the southwest), C29 will put pen to paper and design a drill program that tests its highest priority targets.
A closer look
Thanks to recent data collection and 3D modelling, C29 has bolstered its understanding of Sampson’s Tank’s copper potential.
Looking at the two resistivity models, it believes that the area could be structurally complex with crosscutting north-easterly and north-westerly structures controlling the distribution of both chargeability complexes.
It’s also important to note that the northern complex is characterised by a linear chargeable body, which runs parallel to the modelled magnetic body and was previously modelled by C29’s geophysicist.
The linear chargeability body is strike-limited, kinks to the south and sits within a minor break in the elevated resistivity body that dominates the area.
Other low amplitude chargeable bodies sit to the north of the modelled magnetic body and are also being considered as target areas.
Comparatively, Sampson’s Tank’s southwestern complex envelopes the western margin of an elevated resistivity zone.
Considering these insights in tandem with 3D inverted magnetics data, airborne VTEM work and soil geochemistry anomalies, C29 has scoped out a number of high-priority targets for follow-up exploration.
The company’s technical team will review this data in detail and prepare to drill the most compelling targets, all designed to unlock the copper prospectivity at Sampson’s Tank, which is in the eastern part of the Cobar Basin.
