C29 Metals Ltd (ASX:C29) is finalising plans for its maiden drill program at the Mayfield copper-gold exploration project in the world-class eastern fold-belt of the Proterozoic Mount Isa Inlier in Queensland.
The company’s reverse circulation (RC) program will comprise 2,800 metres of drilling across eight holes at the project area.
An induced polarisation (IP) survey has identified significant multiple chargeable and resistive anomalies over several of the previously delineated gravity and magnetic targets and was extended to cover strong chargeable anomalies heading north towards the Trekelano Mine pit.
Moving forward, the company is now progressing with the drill approval processes and drilling contractor engagement to undertake the planned activity.
Significant copper-gold and base metals
C29 executive director Jeremy King said: “This drill program represents the culmination of a significant amount of technical work at Mayfield.
“It provides scope for the discovery of significant copper-gold and base metals mineralisation to be made at each of the Trekelano South, Clarries and Maiden Creek prospects.
“These prospects sit in in the world-class Mt Isa inlier proximate to other ASX players such as Carnaby Resources, Hammer Metals and Cooper Metals.
“They have received little in the way of previous modern exploration or adequate drill testing and we are genuinely excited to be delivering that for shareholders.”

Compelling targets
The primary target, Trekelano South, is in a similar stratigraphic position as the Trekelano mine, some 2.5 kilometres north, which produced 59,000 tonnes of copper metal.
A compelling copper target at Clarries Prospect is to be tested, where previously limited shallow percussion drilling returned a highly anomalous copper intersection of 21 metres at 0.57% copper from 8 metres, including 4 metres at 2.1% copper from 25 metres.
Furthermore, the drilling of significant coincident chargeable and dense targets at Maiden Creek Prospect is also planned.
The company also continues to frequently assess new opportunities in the base and battery metals sector which would complement its existing portfolio.
