C29 Metals Ltd (ASX:C29) is inching closer to the start of its maiden reverse circulation (RC) drill program at the 100%-owned Mayfield Copper-Gold Project in the world-class Mt Isa Inlier of northwest Queensland
Drills at the ready
Plans and preparations are nearing completion at the project, which is about 25 kilometres south of Carnaby Resources Ltd copper-gold properties, and experienced Townsville-based drilling contractor Associated Exploration Drilling is now awaiting the signal to mobilise from Cloncurry.
The drilling contractor has the capacity to take RC drills down to depths of 600 metres.
Final preparations for drill site access are being conducted this week ahead of the two-to-three-week, eight-hole campaign targeting up to 3,000 metres of drilling.
Drilling should kick off by the end of the month, testing the best targets from combined geophysical and geochemical responses.
Heritage survey complete
The company recently completed a heritage survey with representatives from the Yulluna people, the recognised Native Title rights holders in the area.
All proposed drilling areas were cleared for drilling activities except two holes in close proximity to Pilgrim Creek, where alternative collar positions to test the IP targets could not be generated.
The company has now revised its program to test part of that chargeable corridor on a more northerly section with Hole MFRC006.
The IP target remains open to the south and additional IP lines are planned which may highlight targets that can be drill-accessed away from Pilgrim Creek.
Access agreements
At the same time, the company has entered into conduct and compensation agreements with the owners of Mayfield and Stradbroke pastoral stations, where six and two of the proposed collar locations are situated, respectively.
These agreements allow for the company to undertake drilling and associated activities on the stations.
Executive director Jeremy King said: “The heritage clearance survey with the Yulluna people has been completed, station owner access agreements have been executed and we have contracted Townsville-based Associated Exploration Drilling to undertake the work.
“The team is very excited to be closing in on the start date for what could be a transformational drill program for C29 at Mayfield.”
