Brookside Energy Ltd (ASX:BRK, OTC:RDFEF) has completed drilling the Maroons Well, which is part of the multi-well Flames-Maroons Development Plan (FMDP) in the core of the southern SCOOP Play in the Anadarko Basin of Oklahoma.
Drilling operations were conducted safely, on budget and on schedule with the well reaching a total measured depth of ~12,665 feet.
Brookside is now running the casing in the lateral section of the well and this is being cemented in place.
Once the final casing string has been cemented in place the rig will be walked back to the Fleury Well, the third well in the current FMDP schedule, to commence drilling of the intermediate section having previously drilled the surface hole.
About the FMDP
The FMDP is a multi-well drilling program targeting the highly productive Sycamore and Woodford formations in the SCOOP area of the southern Anadarko Basin.
Of the four wells in the multi-well drilling program, three are being drilled from the Sanford Pad - the Fleury, Maroons, and Iginla Wells. Once these wells have been drilled and cased the drill rig will move to the Flames Well pad and drill the fourth well, the Rocket Well.
Maroons is the first horizontal well targeting the Sycamore formation within this specific drilling unit and will exploit a substantial reservoir already proven by offset vertical production.

Thick Sycamore section
Brookside said the Maroons lateral was successful in its objective to drill in a thick, productive Sycamore section within a structurally complex area.
The brittle nature of the Sycamore in association with this structural complexity led to the Maroons encountering numerous fractures throughout the length of the lateral.
Such fractures often function as pathways for oil and gas migration and production and help increase the Sycamore’s storage capacity.
Further, drill cuttings along with continuous gas shows help illustrate the Maroons lateral placement in oil and gas-prone reservoir rock.
