Brookside Energy Ltd (ASX:BRK, OTC:RDFEF) has completed drilling of the Iginla Well in the southern SCOOP Play in the Anadarko Basin of Oklahoma with the well reaching a total measured depth of ~18,685 feet.
Drilling has been conducted safely, on budget and on schedule on the Iginla Well, which is the first to be drilled in the multi-well Flames-Maroons Development Plan (FMDP).
Casing is now being run in the lateral section of the well and is being cemented in place.
Once the final casing string has been cemented in place, Kenai Drilling’s Kenai 19 rig will be walked back to the Maroons Well to begin drilling of the intermediate section having previously drilled the surface hole.
About the FMDP
The FMDP is a multi-well drilling program targeting the highly productive Sycamore and Woodford formations in the in the core of the southern SCOOP Play.
Of the four wells in the multi-well program, three are being drilled from the Sanford Pad - the Fleury, Maroons and Iginla Wells. Once these wells have been drilled and cased the drill rig will move to the Flames Well pad and drill the fourth well, the Rocket Well.

Numerous fracture swarms
The lateral portion of the Iginla Well was placed in a relatively thick, undrained section of the Woodford shale within a structurally complex area.
This structural complexity led to the Iginla Well encountering numerous fracture swarms throughout the length of the lateral or horizontal section.
These areas of intense fracturing were often accompanied by significant gas shows and act as natural pathways for oil and gas migration and production.
Drill cuttings in concert with heavy hydrocarbon constituents within continuous gas shows help illustrate the Iginla’s lateral placement in highly organic, oil prone reservoir rock.
