Dec 27 (Reuters) - Acciona SA ANA.MC :

* SAID ON THURSDAY IT WOULD CONSTRUCT A WASTE-TO-ENERGY (WTE) PLANT IN EAST ROCKINGHAM (WESTERN AUSTRALIA) IN A CONTRACT WORTH AU$511 MILLION (320 MILLION EUROS)

* THE PLANT WILL HAVE A NET CAPACITY TO GENERATE 29 MW OF RENEWABLE ELECTRICITY

* ACCIONA IS THE LEAD CONTRACTOR FOR THE EPC PROJECT, TOGETHER WITH HITACHI ZOSEN INOVA (HZI), AND HOLDING A STAKE IN THE COMPANY FOR THE PROJECT ALONGSIDE HZI AND JOHN LAING

* IT WILL BE ACCIONA'S FIRST EQUITY INVESTMENT IN A WASTE-TO-ENERGY PROJECT
