Boeing (NYSE:BA) has appointed Admiral Kirkland H. Donald as a special advisor to its CEO Dave Calhoun, in the latest push to address the fallout from the 737 MAX 9 groundings and criticism over its production and quality control practices.
Admiral Donald, alongside a team of outside experts will conduct an independent review of Boeing's quality management system for commercial airplanes, quality programs and practices in manufacturing facilities, as well as of its oversight of commercial suppliers.
"Admiral Donald is a recognized leader in ensuring the integrity of some of the most complex and consequential safety and quality systems in the world," CEO Calhoun said about the appointment,
Shares of Boeing are trading 8% lower on Tuesday, extending its YTD loss to over 20%.
