Blackstone (NYSE:BX) Minerals Ltd (ASX:BSX, OTCQX:BLSTF) has confirmed the presence of significant nickel sulphides at its Gold Bridge and Twilight projects in Canada.
At Jewel prospect at Gold Bridge in British Columbia, the maiden drill hole intersected 0.9 metres at 1.45% copper, 0.56% nickel and 0.19% cobalt from 376.7 metres, including 0.27 metres at 3.86% copper, 1.63% nickel, 0.62% cobalt,1.49 g/t gold and 45 g/t silver from 376.98 metres, and multiple gold intersections up to 0.3 metres at 5.7 g/t gold.
At the Western Gem prospect, the maiden drill hole intersected 81 metres of ultramafic-hosted disseminated sulphides assaying 0.21 % nickel from 65.36 metres.
Meanwhile at the new Twilight Project in Labrador, historic drilling encountered up to 16 metres at 0.16% nickel and 0.15% copper from 151.7 metres, including 0.55 metres at 0.34% nickel, 0.36% copper and 374 ppm cobalt from 159.15 metres associated with gabbro-hosted disseminated sulphides.
“Significant nickel sulphides”
Blackstone managing director Scott Williamson said: “The maiden three-hole drill program testing Induced Polarisation targets at the Jewel and Western Gem prospects successfully encountered disseminated and massive sulphides, and test-work has confirmed the presence of significant nickel sulphides in addition to the cobalt, gold, silver and copper sulphides.
“The recognition of broad disseminated nickel sulphide zones adds an exciting new exploration dimension to the Gold Bridge district that Blackstone will be following up starting with high-powered ground EM to test for massive sulphide zones.
“Blackstone has also entered into an option agreement over a gabbro-hosted nickel-copper sulphide project in Labrador, home to the world-class Voisey’s Bay nickel-copper-cobalt sulphide deposit.
“Reconnaissance field inspection confirms nickel and copper sulphide fertility, with the company now looking forward to testing this very underexplored area for massive sulphides with modern high powered ground EM."
Gold Bridge Project
The Gold Bridge (gold-cobalt-copper-nickel) Project comprises 365 square kilometres of contiguous 100% Blackstone-owned mining claims located in the Cordilleran Terranes of British Columbia.
This project includes 48 strike kilometres of the regional Cadwallader Fergusson fault zone which hosts the Bralorne and Pioneer gold deposits.
Blackstone’s Gold Bridge tenure also includes several high-grade hydrothermal gold, cobalt, nickel and copper deposits and targets, most notably the historic Little Gem and Jewel mines.
Twilight Project
The Twilight Nickel-Copper Sulphide Project comprises a contiguous 217 square kilometres block of exploration claims located in western Labrador, about 80 kilometres northeast of Labrador City–Wabrush and 55 kilometres west of Churchill Falls hydroelectricity power station
Blackstone has an option agreement to acquire up to 100% project interest of the claims from the prospector Big Land Exploration as per the terms of the option agreement.
Stronger airborne EM anomalies remain to be drill tested and Blackstone personnel field inspected several of these targets in the June quarter.
