Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Financials, Industrials and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 2.19%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Elia (BR:ELI), which fell 0.34% or 0.155 points to trade at 45.985 at the close. Umicore NV (BR:UMI) fell 0.83% or 0.39 points to end at 46.06 and Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR) was down 1.09% or 0.59 points to 53.67 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ING Groep NV (AS:ING), which lost 4.19% or 0.450 points to trade at 10.285 in late trade. Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) declined 3.08% or 0.93 points to end at 29.25 and Ackermans V.Haaren (BR:ACKB) shed 3.07% or 3.50 points to 110.45.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 122 to 22 and 8 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.15% or 1.95 to $1274.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 2.41% or 1.22 to hit $49.34 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 2.29% or 1.19 to trade at $50.76 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.32% to 1.1282, while EUR/GBP rose 0.51% to 0.7870.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.33% at 94.41.
