Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Consumer Services, Consumer Goods and Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 0.28%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were ING Groep NV (AS:ING), which rose 2.28% or 0.255 points to trade at 11.435 at the close. KBC (BR:KBC) added 1.65% or 0.780 points to end at 48.040 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) was up 0.86% or 0.330 points to 38.830 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Telenet Group (BR:TNET), which lost 2.58% or 1.18 points to trade at 44.28 in late trade. Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR) declined 2.51% or 1.30 points to end at 50.58 and Elia (BR:ELI) shed 1.83% or 0.820 points to 43.900.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 88 to 50 and 15 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.15% or 1.90 to $1252.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.54% or 0.24 to hit $43.94 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.83% or 0.38 to trade at $45.42 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.10% to 1.1307, while EUR/GBP rose 0.10% to 0.7888.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.07% at 94.47.
