Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Utilities, Basic Materials and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 0.10%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 3.02% or 1.780 points to trade at 60.640 at the close. ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) added 1.78% or 0.193 points to end at 11.008 and Anheuser-Busch Inbev SA (BR:ABI) was up 1.03% or 1.20 points to 117.35 in late trade.
Biggest losers included KBC (BR:KBC), which lost 1.87% or 0.980 points to trade at 51.480 in late trade. Ackermans V.Haaren (BR:ACKB) declined 1.28% or 1.50 points to end at 115.30 and Ageas (BR:AGES) shed 0.83% or 0.270 points to 32.325.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 77 to 75 and 8 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 1.00% or 13.45 to $1330.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 3.53% or 1.62 to hit $44.31 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 3.46% or 1.66 to trade at $46.27 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.39% to 1.1210, while EUR/GBP fell 0.68% to 0.8613.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.24% at 95.44.
