Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Utilities, Consumer Services and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.03%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Ackermans V.Haaren (BR:ACKB), which rose 2.53% or 3.05 points to trade at 123.50 at the close. Umicore NV (BR:UMI) added 1.40% or 0.59 points to end at 43.20 and UCB (BR:UCB) was up 1.05% or 0.73 points to 69.96 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Engie SA (PA:ENGIE), which lost 1.43% or 0.20 points to trade at 13.74 in late trade. bpost NV (BR:BPOST) declined 1.14% or 0.28 points to end at 24.62 and Groupe Bruxelles Lambert SA (BR:GBLB) shed 1.03% or 0.76 points to 72.95.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 75 to 72 and 11 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was down 0.76% or 9.50 to $1244.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.66% or 0.27 to hit $41.41 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.36% or 0.15 to trade at $41.35 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.28% to 1.1237, while EUR/GBP rose 0.28% to 0.7810.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.34% at 95.39.
