Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Financials, Industrial Engineering and Banking sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 0.01% to hit a new 5-year high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Umicore NV (BR:UMI), which rose 3.26% or 1.85 points to trade at 58.53 at the close. Aperam SA (AS:APAM) added 1.67% or 0.76 points to end at 46.36 and NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) was up 1.63% or 0.74 points to 46.05 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ING Groep NV (AS:INGA), which lost 0.76% or 0.120 points to trade at 15.570 in late trade. KBC (BR:KBC) declined 0.66% or 0.450 points to end at 67.900 and Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) shed 0.53% or 0.65 points to 122.05.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 77 to 41 and 11 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.71% or 8.72 to $1218.38 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 1.03% or 0.48 to hit $45.95 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.99% or 0.49 to trade at $48.85 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.43% to 1.0877, while EUR/GBP fell 0.45% to 0.8402.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.43% at 99.46.
