Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Utilities, Industrials and Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 1.81% to hit a new 6-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Proximus NV (BR:PROX), which rose 0.87% or 0.23 points to trade at 26.57 at the close. Telenet Group (BR:TNET) added 0.36% or 0.20 points to end at 55.70 and Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BR:COFB) was down 0.39% or 0.40 points to 102.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB), which lost 8.19% or 3.32 points to trade at 37.22 in late trade. Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) declined 3.69% or 0.47 points to end at 12.27 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) shed 2.41% or 2.020 points to 81.840.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 83 to 23 and 19 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 1.13% or 14.70 to $1319.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.30% or 0.18 to hit $61.17 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.58% or 0.37 to trade at $64.20 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.37% to 1.2309, while EUR/GBP rose 0.47% to 0.8946.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.21% at 90.03.
