Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Technology, Basic Materials and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 1.51% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Anheuser Busch Inbev SA NV (BR:ABI), which rose 0.48% or 0.41 points to trade at 86.19 at the close. UCB (BR:UCB) added 0.18% or 0.14 points to end at 77.64 and Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BR:COFB) was up 0.18% or 0.20 points to 110.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Umicore SA (BR:UMI), which lost 4.61% or 2.24 points to trade at 46.35 in late trade. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) declined 3.34% or 3.140 points to end at 90.760 and Aperam SA (AS:APAM) shed 2.79% or 1.12 points to 39.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 74 to 25 and 13 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.47% or 17.70 to $1183.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 3.51% or 2.35 to hit $64.69 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 2.62% or 1.90 to trade at $70.56 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.06% to 1.1338, while EUR/GBP rose 0.13% to 0.8929.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.10% at 96.65.
