Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Consumer Services and Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 1.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Umicore SA (BR:UMI), which rose 0.90% or 0.42 points to trade at 47.20 at the close. NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) added 0.90% or 0.32 points to end at 35.92 and Sofina (BR:SOF) was up 0.88% or 1.20 points to 137.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Telenet Group (BR:TNET), which lost 5.46% or 3.35 points to trade at 57.95 in late trade. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) declined 1.86% or 1.720 points to end at 90.980 and Aperam SA (AS:APAM) shed 1.78% or 0.79 points to 43.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 71 to 43 and 16 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.26% or 3.40 to $1329.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.27% or 0.16 to hit $59.13 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.03% or 0.02 to trade at $62.57 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.55% to 1.2359, while EUR/GBP rose 0.23% to 0.8903.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.51% at 89.55.
