Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Consumer Services, Healthcare and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.98%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Aperam SA (AS:APAM), which rose 1.57% or 0.67 points to trade at 43.08 at the close. bpost NV (BR:BPOST) added 0.96% or 0.22 points to end at 23.16 and Ageas (BR:AGES) was up 0.73% or 0.285 points to 39.285 in late trade.
Biggest losers included UCB (BR:UCB), which lost 2.66% or 1.57 points to trade at 57.50 in late trade. Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) declined 1.92% or 2.40 points to end at 122.45 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) shed 1.86% or 1.190 points to 62.630.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 71 to 36 and 13 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.22% or 15.39 to $1277.99 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.39% or 0.19 to hit $49.36 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.59% or 0.31 to trade at $52.45 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.12% to 1.1738, while EUR/GBP fell 0.15% to 0.9033.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 93.54.
