Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Financials, Industrials and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.85%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Proximus NV (BR:PROX), which rose 0.91% or 0.21 points to trade at 23.40 at the close. Anheuser Busch Inbev SA NV (BR:ABI) added 0.01% or 0.01 points to end at 80.52 and Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 points to 14.28 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Aperam SA (AS:APAM), which lost 2.06% or 0.87 points to trade at 41.40 in late trade. Groupe Bruxelles Lambert SA (BR:GBLB) declined 2.04% or 1.92 points to end at 92.10 and Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) shed 1.95% or 0.48 points to 24.12.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 66 to 48 and 20 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.07% or 0.90 to $1291.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.82% or 0.59 to hit $71.61 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.57% or 0.45 to trade at $79.12 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.70% to 1.1698, while EUR/GBP fell 0.07% to 0.8764.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.47% at 93.95.
