Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Industrials, Basic Materials and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 0.81%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Sofina (BR:SOF), which rose 1.02% or 1.60 points to trade at 158.00 at the close. Argen-X (BR:ARGX) added 1.01% or 0.80 points to end at 79.90 and Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BR:COFB) was up 0.36% or 0.40 points to 112.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Solvay SA (BR:SOLB), which lost 2.19% or 2.55 points to trade at 114.10 in late trade. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) declined 2.06% or 1.940 points to end at 92.220 and ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) shed 1.51% or 0.196 points to 12.816.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 66 to 38 and 26 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.40% or 4.90 to $1222.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 2.02% or 1.37 to hit $69.03 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.45% or 1.05 to trade at $73.44 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.39% to 1.1614, while EUR/GBP rose 0.26% to 0.8906.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.37% at 94.81.
