Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Technology, Consumer Goods and Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 0.77%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Umicore SA (BR:UMI), which rose 0.72% or 0.27 points to trade at 37.69 at the close. Ageas (BR:AGES) added 0.39% or 0.160 points to end at 41.385 and ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) was up 0.22% or 0.035 points to 15.960 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Anheuser Busch Inbev SA NV (BR:ABI), which lost 2.41% or 2.55 points to trade at 103.05 in late trade. Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) declined 2.16% or 0.32 points to end at 14.24 and Aperam SA (AS:APAM) shed 2.00% or 0.94 points to 46.25.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 75 to 36 and 9 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.18% or 2.27 to $1280.57 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.95% or 0.50 to hit $51.97 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.55% or 0.32 to trade at $58.01 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.38% to 1.1806, while EUR/GBP fell 0.52% to 0.8909.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.29% at 93.56.
