Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Technology, Consumer Goods and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.50%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX), which rose 1.16% or 0.33 points to trade at 28.34 at the close. Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR) added 0.57% or 0.26 points to end at 44.88 and Telenet Group (BR:TNET) was up 0.45% or 0.26 points to 57.47 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Umicore SA (BR:UMI), which lost 1.90% or 0.75 points to trade at 38.62 in late trade. Anheuser Busch Inbev SA NV (BR:ABI) declined 1.44% or 1.40 points to end at 95.64 and KBC (BR:KBC) shed 1.23% or 0.850 points to 68.430.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 84 to 36 and 7 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.13% or 1.70 to $1266.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 2.40% or 1.38 to hit $56.24 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 2.04% or 1.28 to trade at $61.58 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.31% to 1.1788, while EUR/GBP rose 0.24% to 0.8818.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.35% at 93.60.
