Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Utilities, Healthcare and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 0.37%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 2.07% or 1.820 points to trade at 89.740 at the close. Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR) added 0.71% or 0.35 points to end at 49.67 and Aperam SA (AS:APAM) was up 0.46% or 0.17 points to 37.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included KBC (BR:KBC), which lost 0.92% or 0.600 points to trade at 64.800 in late trade. UCB (BR:UCB) declined 0.87% or 0.62 points to end at 70.24 and Ageas (BR:AGES) shed 0.85% or 0.370 points to 43.090.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 56 to 50 and 17 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.97% or 11.90 to $1216.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.19% or 0.13 to hit $67.88 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.58% or 0.42 to trade at $72.48 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.30% to 1.1604, while EUR/GBP rose 0.36% to 0.8938.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.45% at 95.27.
