Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Telecoms, Utilities and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.36%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX), which rose 2.24% or 0.38 points to trade at 17.37 at the close. Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) added 1.22% or 0.14 points to end at 12.05 and UCB (BR:UCB) was up 0.88% or 0.64 points to 73.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Telenet Group Holding NV (BR:TNET), which lost 5.38% or 2.46 points to trade at 43.30 in late trade. Umicore SA (BR:UMI) declined 2.50% or 1.08 points to end at 42.16 and bpost NV (BR:BPOST) shed 2.48% or 0.33 points to 12.98.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 61 to 44 and 16 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.03% or 0.40 to $1231.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.30% or 0.19 to hit $63.33 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.47% or 0.34 to trade at $73.17 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.04% to 1.1394, while EUR/GBP fell 0.31% to 0.8753.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 96.24.
